About Us

Cambridge Australia Scholarships is the main source of funding for Australians undertaking post-graduate study at Cambridge and is funded entirely by private philanthropy. It has provided young minds with access to a myriad of opportunities and networks, fostering curiosity and inquiring thought. At any given time, there are over 30 Australians resident in Cambridge supported wholly or partly by CAS (in partnership with the Cambridge Commonwealth, European and International Trust).

About the role

As Director of Fundraising and Donor Relations, you will be responsible for the fundraising strategy of Cambridge Australia Scholarships alongside maintaining the established donor relationships.

At a broad level, the Director of Fundraising and Donor Relations will be responsible for creating a strategic plan to raise additional funds to assist in sending more Australian students to study at the University of Cambridge as well as ensuring the existing funds are being utilised in the most efficient way.

The Director of Fundraising and Donor Relations will continue to build a lasting relationship with existing donors and spend time with potential new donors. This role also involves working with the Executive Officer, day to day and with the University of Cambridge Development Office.

Key tasks       

Actively participate in the governance of CAS, in partnership with the Executive Officer, Chair and other Directors, including attendance and active contribution to all Board meetings/events. Board meetings are held quarterly mostly via ZOOM with one in person Board meeting held in Melbourne each year.

-        Support CAS’ efforts to develop and maintain strong relationships with benefactors, CCEIT and alumni.

-        Oversee the fundraising for CAS, ensuring that scholarships are adequately funded on both a short- and long-term basis.

-        Plan and assist in implementing fundraising campaigns and events.

-        Develop and deliver mutually beneficial partnerships.

-        Take responsibility for donor engagement and relationships.

-        Research, identify and cultivate relationships with high-net-worth supporters.

-        Develop, manage and drive strategic major gifts and corporate partnerships strategy.

-        Develop tailored proposals and donor strategies to increase giving from current and new donors.

 

About you

Skills, knowledge and personal qualities

Must be a graduate of Cambridge University, or a major donor of CAS.

Ideally, you have a positive, friendly approach and you are an experienced fundraising professional, who thinks strategically and is able to relate to a wide variety of people.

Strong organisational, time management, and communication skills.

Willingness and capacity to contribute actively to the governance and development of CAS.

Passionate about the academic future of Australians.
