      <image:caption>Full Name: Ben Davison-Petch Scholarship Name: Cambridge Australia Poynton Scholarship Home State: Western Australia Course Title: PhD in Physics College: Darwin College Hailing from Perth, Ben came to Cambridge in 2020 in the height of the pandemic to start his undergraduate studies in the Natural Sciences Tripos. Despite the tribulations of locked-down Britain, and significant temptation to specialise in Materials Science, Ben graduated in the top 5 of his cohort in Physics. After interning as a computational engineer at Alloyed Ltd. in Oxford, Ben discovered his love for simulations, and returned to Cambridge in 2023 for the MPhil in Scientific Computing. He is now pursuing a PhD with the Lab for Scientific Computing, developing numerical simulation techniques for tokamak nuclear fusion.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Full Name: Bryce O’Connor Scholarship Name: Cambridge Australia Poynton Scholarship Home State: New South Wales Course Title: PhD in History College: Trinity College Bryce is pursuing a PhD in History at Trinity College, Cambridge. Raised in regional New South Wales, he worked for seven years as an adviser and chief of staff in successive state governments. He holds a master’s degree in Late Antique and Byzantine Studies from the University of Oxford and an undergraduate degree in Ancient History from Macquarie University. His research focusses on how a ninth-century ecclesiastical dispute influenced political, cultural, and religious discourses in the Mediterranean world. Bryce hopes to become a historian, while also leveraging his skills and experience from government to contribute to Australian public life. Outside of his research, Bryce enjoys reading, watching football, and playing cricket.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Full Name: Victor Daniel Charles Browning (known as Daniel) Scholarship Name: 2024 First Nations Writer-in-Residence Fellowship, sponsored by Cambridge Australia Scholarships and First Nations' Australian Writer's Network (FNAWN) Home State: NSW College: Trinity Hall  Daniel Browning is an award-winning writer, journalist and radio broadcaster from the Bundjalung and Kullilli peoples of far northern NSW and south-western Queensland. In 1994, he graduated from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) with a degree in visual art and in 2021 was named QUT's Outstanding Indigenous Alumnus. Daniel is the second recipient of the First Nations Writer-in-Residence Fellowship, jointly offered by CAS and the First Nations Australian Writer's Network (FNAWN). He is embarking on a creative literary practice after three decades working as a radio journalist with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). As the ABC's Editor of Indigenous Radio, he oversees two longstanding flagship programs, Awaye! and Speaking Out and is much-loved host of The Art Show podcast. His first book, Close to the Subject (Magabala Books, 2023) won the 2024 Prime Minister's Literary Award for Non-Fiction and the Indigenous Writing Prize, a category of the Victorian Premier's Literary Awards. While at Cambridge, Daniel undertook further research into his current literary project, a double biography of two Aboriginal men who came to Europe in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. A work of literary non-fiction, Returning the colonial gaze crosses memoir and Gonzo journalism with radical, narrative and transnational history.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Full Name: Georgia Chisholm Scholarship Name: Partick Moore Scholarship Home State: Victoria Course Title: MPhil in Politics and International Studies College: Clare College Georgia Chisholm is currently undertaking the MPhil of Politics and International Studies based at Clare College. Prior to her research, she worked as an adviser at the Office of the Victorian Government Architect and completed undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Melbourne. Georgia’s thesis, will explore how architectural references in key utopian texts, work to support, reinforce, or shape the political structure of the imagined utopian society.       <image:caption>Full Name: Helen Pretorius Scholarship Name: Cambridge Australia 800th Anniversary Scholarship Home State: ACT  Course Title: PhD in English College: Corpus Christi  Helen is studying a PhD in English. She has studied a Bachelor of Philosophy (Arts &amp; Social Sciences) majoring in English at the Australian National University and Master of Arts (Research) at the University of Sydney. Her PhD research focuses on lost and destroyed novel manuscripts of women writers of the 19th and 20th centuries, and the posthumously management of literary estates by families. She is interested in the intersection of domestic and intellectual life, and 'shadow cannons' of Anglophone literature. She plans to pursue a career in academic research and also hopes to teach at a university level. Helen is also a competitive sprinter and has represented Australia in 400m at several international competitions.</image:caption>
